Depression is very bad for health. Just try to make yourself busy in other activities that you like the most. Try to communicate with your family members or with your close friends as much as possible. Don't try any drugs to overcome depression. You may get addicted of it and it may harm your health badly.

For the 26 years I've been diagnosed with Hashimoto's, I've had some minor GI problems off and on, nothing serious... until lately. A few months ago, I was having serious abdominal pain. Several ER/doctor visits later and a battery of unpleasant tests by a gastroenterologist and I still don't have a diagnosis. I'm still waiting on the results of biopsies performed during one of the tests and should get them next week.

Everything from IBS, Crohn's, and Celiac disease has been suggested as possible causes of the pain. As someone with an autoimmune disease, I'm certainly at risk for those health problems as well, but I'm wondering if this is just Hashimoto's symptoms I've never had before. I've read that some Hashimoto's symptoms are similar to IBS, etc.

If I went through all those uncomfortable tests only to find out it's just symptoms of Hashimoto's and all I need to do is adjust my meds, I'll be a bit peeved. LOL.

I have had a rollercoaster ride with depression most of my life. It seems to go hand and hand with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. There are very few days where I feel "normal" and "happy", but then again it's very rare to have days where I'm really down in the dumps. But when those days hit, it's pretty bad.

Depression is one of the most aggravating and annoying symptoms/side effects of Hashimoto's that I deal with. Do any of you suffer from depression? How do you handle it? Or is it too overwhelming to handle sometimes? Most of the time I can handle it fairly well, but sometimes I just get so worn down that I tend to want to crawl inside my little shell and not come out for a while...

What symptoms are you suffering?

Which are the most bothersome?

Have you found anything that brings relief to your symptoms?

Here are some topics of discussion for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis symptoms. For me, the most bothersome symptoms are brain fog and fatigue. I used to be sharp and full of energy and now I feel like I am living my life underwater. Diet and exercise help, but I've been dealing with the TSH rollercoaster because of stress from work.

Please, feel free to add your comments and thoughts on the subject. Know that you're not alone and there are plenty of people going through the same things you are.
